Christian Comair | Engineer

Lebanese-Canadian engineer Christian Comair is a prominent business leader. He is the indirect owner of GET Contracting Company, an enterprise based in Qatar.

Kristian Comair specialises in environmental engineering, and prior to establishing his own business he worked for several prestigious companies. From 1994 to 2000, Christian Comair worked for ENB Ltd Consulting Engineers, a Lebanon-based organisation. In this role, he was responsible for implementing the first year of Lebanon’s National Emergency Recovery Program, an initiative created to restore wastewater facilities and water supplies in North and Mount Lebanon. In addition to restoring 50 pumping stations, the project also saw the rehabilitation of 40 treatment plants and stations, along with the rehabilitation of 190 water towers and reservoirs. The project also culminated in the creation of 100 kilometres of sewer lines spanning 50 different sites.

GET Contracting

GET Contracting Company offers a comprehensive selection of engineering services covering a variety of major functional trades. Services offered by the organisation include everything from structure, design and fit out to infrastructure creation and faculty management. The organisation has spearheaded numerous landmark construction and restoration projects over the years, including overseeing the installation of basalt tiling at Souk Wakif in 2006, an ambitious project covering a 80,000-square-metre footprint.

GET Contracting Company was tasked with constructing a new coast guard base marina in 2013, with the development site covering a vast 450,000-square-metre area. The company successful completed works on a new naval base in 2019, having constructed project buildings and created in-block infrastructure.

Philanthropy

In addition to his extensive professional pursuits, Christian Comair is also a committed philanthropist. Recognising his responsibility to give back to society, he has placed his weight behind numerous worthy causes, including managing an animal sanctuary and reforestation project. Mr. Comair also oversaw reconstruction works across four South Lebanese villages that had been destroyed during the Israeli–Lebanese conflict in 2006. The latter project saw the creation of 6,000 homes, as well as the construction of fire stations, 700 religious buildings of various denominations and 42 schools.

Lebanese Industrial Sector

Credited with creating jobs in the Lebanese industrial sector, Christian Comair boosted exports of local agricultural projects, specifically apples. He also implemented a project designed to mitigate the impact of low rain levels in Tannourine through the creation of artificial water ponds for use in agriculture. Upon acquiring the bankrupt French gas and oil business Sofregaz, Mr. Comair ensured its return to profitability, conserving its workforce and adopting the highest environmental standards.
